Blog Welcome Address

Hello and welcome to the First Keystone Community Bank Blog!

Our story begins in September 1864 as the former First National Bank of Berwick opened its doors with just seven employees and $50,000 in startup capital near the end of the Civil War.  Our first home was a small 16’ x 25’ brick building on East Front Street in Berwick, Pennsylvania. Fast forward 155 years to 2019 and First Keystone Community Bank now operates 19 locations with a staff of over 200 dedicated and highly-motivated employees.

As part of the mission to service our customers and community, we are introducing this blog to deliver helpful financial tips and information relevant to our LOCAL communities. Often times, while searching for financial information, people will find articles and stories that have some helpful information, but it doesn’t apply directly to them or to their local neighborhood. We want to provide relevant articles that our friends and neighbors will find useful and enjoyable.

Since our area is unique and has its own financial trends, we are also looking to educate our customers and community and help them grow and develop right along with us.  In future blog entries, we will cover topics such as saving for retirement, purchasing a new home, improving your credit score, the process of starting your own business, and much more.

The blog will be two-fold in that it will be educational, but it will also show the lighter side of the bank. We want to highlight our employees, alert you to exciting events in your community, and focus on other human interest stories in the area. Northeastern and Central PA is a thriving area that has much to offer and we want people to know we’re proud to live, work and play in the place we call home.

Our customers may know our front-line staff, but not everyone gets to meet the employees in the back office operational areas of the bank. We would love to show everyone the amazing things that our employees do in their jobs, as well as in their social life. We have employees that love to travel, employees that love to dance, crafters who attend fairs, volunteers at the Pocono Raceway, and a whole variety of other extracurricular activities.   We cannot wait for you to meet the true First Keystone Community Bank!

Over the years, many things have changed. But our dedication to customer service and helping the community have remained steadfast. Today, customers are offered a wide variety of checking and savings accounts, trust and investment services, and consumer and mortgage loans, as well as a full menu of commercial loans for our business clients.  For even more convenience, the Bank also offers direct deposit, automatic loan payments, bank-by-phone, internet banking, mobile banking, and online bill pay – all the conveniences of a “big bank,” with the look and feel of a hometown bank.

We invite you to follow our blog in order to connect with us and receive updates when new stories and articles are posted. We hope you’ll come along for the ride!
