You could say that William enjoys a challenge. From professional chef to accountant to IT engineer, William has enjoyed a wide array of careers. After celebrating nine years this month in the banking industry, he may have found his calling.
“Being a bank teller was supposed to be my “gap” job while I was looking for something in the culinary field,” William said. “After joining First Keystone Community Bank, I began to enjoy the financial industry and soon went to school for an accounting degree.”
William started his banking career with FKCB in 2017 as a floating teller before becoming a customer service representative in the Danville branch. While working on his accounting degree, he moved on to the main office as a purchaser in the accounting department. But soon he was looking once again to expand his horizons.
“As I continued to grow both my interest in the banking industry and profession, I wanted to broaden my knowledge of the workings of FKCB,” William said. “So I accepted a position in the IT department as an IT specialist where I was given the opportunity to continue to grow into my current position as IT business operations engineer.”
William’s journey with FKCB has given him insights and expertise into the field. But his favorite part is the personnel.
“Due to my position, I interact with almost everyone within the organization, either sporadically as issues arise or more consistently with my project workloads,” William said. “And everyone I have had the opportunity to work with is always pleasant and in my opinion, highly valuable members of our organization! I enjoy working with everyone both on my team and within the bank as a whole.”
William’s pastimes, like his career, have been diverse and challenging, taking him from the kitchen to the design table.
“My pastimes are ever-changing. The most consistent is that I still cook and hone my culinary skills with every chance I get,” he said. “The kitchen is by far the place I consider home the most.”
In addition to cooking, William enjoys experimenting with 3D Printing and Modeling, as well as learning the process of freeze-drying, a type of food preservation which he plans to use for making his own fruit and vegetable powders.
Whether it’s performing his IT duties or perfecting his culinary skills, one thing William will never be—stagnant.
“My favorite part of the job is the constantly changing workload, and that overlaps into my personal life. There is no monotony. Every day brings something new, either something new to learn, a new challenge to overcome or a new chance to excel within my position.”
